Weekend Double Headers

  • How To Do Two Pelagic Trips
    In One Weekend

In the months of May and October, we have "weekend double-headers" -- back-to-back trips in one weekend.  You can go on one, the other, or both.

Each trip has a different purpose.

Double-headers begin Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. with a 3/4 day trip to the birdy 9-mile bank and then the Coronados Islands to look for boobies, oystercatchers and vagrant shearwater, returning to port at 3:00 p.m. to refuel, departing again at 4:30 p.m. on a 2-night Deep Water Expedition.

The Deep Water trip will explore the 9-mile bank just before sunset on the way to the continental shelf.  We'll spend the entire day Sunday - from sunrise to sunset - in deep water life zones like the Cortez Bank, Tanner Bank and The Mushroom.

You can go on either or both trips.  We've scheduled them back-to-back so should you wish to do both, you can be back to work on Monday morning.

The 3/4 day trip has a 55 person capacity, the Deep Water Pelagic only room for only 38, so if you wish to do the double-header, early reservations are advised.
